Waiting for the right opportunity is a waste of your time.
Let me get real with you for a minute.
Opportunity, I’ve realised, is actually a disguise for hard work.
I can get stuck in my head a lot (I’m a bit of a thinker), and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve sat there waiting… HOPING for an opportunity.
Without fail though, my best results have always come when I hustled my ass off, got out there and threw everything at it.
I stopped waiting and started DOING.
The other week I saw one of my agents, Ben, negotiate the purchase of a property for a client looking for a 2 bedroom unit as an investment.
It took him weeks of hunting for the right opportunity, making offers and waiting patiently.
He eventually purchased successfully at $780,000.
The following week, a similar renovated unit in the same building sold for $930,000 – $150,000 above what our client paid.
The difference between Ben’s result and NO result, was pure hustle.
With a minor renovation, his client is now set to make a sizeable little profit.
But let’s get something clear.
He didn’t sit around waiting for the phone to ring.
He didn’t watch properties come and go online.
He was out there testing agents on price and making offers.
He didn’t stumble across an opportunity, he just worked hard and made it happen.
Many of us like to entertain the notion of finding a great buying opportunity, but how many of us are willing to put in the hustle to make it happen?
How many of us would be better off having Ben out there making it happen for us?
